Founded in 1906, the Junior League of Boston is “an organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women and improving communities through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. Its purpose is exclusively educational and charitable.”

One of the ways the Junior League of Boston has raised money for the last four-plus decades is through its “Show House” event.

This year marks the 45h anniversary, and you still have time to check out the 2016 Decorators’ Show House at the 1854 Nathaniel Allen House in Newton, Massachusetts. The event features the creative talents of the area’s finest designers. (Read this great write-up from The Boston Globe, which includes wonderful photos.)

The Nathaniel Allen House has an interesting history. According to the Junior League of Boston website, it was “the site of the earliest co-educational school in the country and was a stop on the Underground Railroad.” Now owned by the Newton Cultural Alliance, the Nathaniel Allen House is used for small and medium sized performances and cultural events.

Vani Sayeed of Vani Sayeed Studios designed the gorgeous kitchen, dubbed “La Belle Cuisine,” and Wolfers Lighting donated the Legrand system for this space. This customizable, modular system comes equipped with undercabinet lighting and USB ports (as well as other features), making it a truly versatile system and ideal for today’s busy kitchens.

See it for yourself by visiting the Nathaniel Allen House in person through June 5. Tickets are available for purchase here. Remember, the proceeds benefit the Junior League of Boston’s mission of promoting “the wellness of girls throughout Greater Boston by addressing the critical issues of low self-esteem, poor body image, obesity, food insecurity, and poor nutrition.”

Of course, if the date passes by, you can always visit our Waltham kitchen lab to see some of the components of the Legrand in action. Our lighting experts will be happy to answer any of your questions
