Designer Lighting Brands: Spotlight on Hubbardton Forge

Posted on by admin

We’ve written about Hubbardton Forge before, but one article doesn’t do justice to this innovative designer lighting brand.

This time around, we thought we’d delve deeper into Hubbardton Forge’s design aesthetic and share some of our favorite lighting products.

Hubbardton Forge’s tagline is “modern American blacksmiths,” an apt description since this Vermont-based company takes tools from a bygone era (think anvils, swage blocks, and trip hammers) and uses them to create designs that work beautifully in the 21st century.

Its website explains it best: “Since the company began in 1974, we have been re-exploring the ancient art of metal sculpting, creating lighting and accessories of grace and simplicity. Our design and manufacturing process is a collaboration of designers, engineers and craftspeople. Every curve, taper, and twist in the metal carries with it the distinctive marks of honest hand-crafting.”

At Wolfers, we’ve been fans of Hubbardton Forge since the beginning. Below are some gorgeous lighting products that reflect the company’s commitment to artistry, integrity, and enduring value. Each product has been hand forged by a blacksmith, and the finishes are guaranteed for life.

1. Beautiful Ceiling Fixtures. Who says ceiling fixtures can’t be beautiful? Available in six finishes, the Metra semi-flush mount pictured below offers a sleek contemporary glass design with Hubbardton’s signature metal accents. Choose from three glass color options as well.

2. Imaginative Chandeliers. As Hubbardton Forge says, this chandelier with six arms provides a contemporary twist on a timeless form. The orb pictured below has a burnished steel finish, but five other finishes are also available.

And here’s how this globe pendant looks in action. Talk about a conversation starter! On display in both the Waltham and Allston showrooms.

3. The Erlenmeyer Collection. Named after the ubiquitous flat-bottomed laboratory flask that we all used in chemistry class, this collection plays with and reinvents this iconic shape.

The pendant above is one of the products from the Erlenmeyer Collection. It displays the clean lines and sophisticated simplicity of a contemporary look, using thick blown glass cones and hand-forged metal. See it on display in Waltham and Allston

4. Lisse Chandelier. Talk about elegant! This lovely chandelier has small LEDs illuminating the frosted glass cylinders, and is on display in our Waltham showroom.

We love showing people Hubbardton Forge’s products, so stop by our Allston or Waltham lighting showrooms to see them in person.
