Three Lighting Trends That Are Sure to Inspire
At the beginning of the year, you’ll find plenty of “what’s trending” lists in every category imaginable. The problem is that many of those lists involve predictions, rather than actual trends.
Now that we’re past the halfway point in 2015 (how’d that happen?), we thought we’d take a step back and share the real lighting trends we’ve been seeing in our lighting showrooms for the last six months. Get ready to be inspired!
Say Hello to Warm Metallics.
This isn’t a huge surprise since metallics have been popular in the fashion industry for the last several years. Let’s just say that skirts and shoes aren’t the only items you can bathe in the warm glow of gold, brass, and so forth. We’re seeing increased interest in lighting fixtures with warm metallic finishes a wonderful look that can truly help transform a space.
Hubbardton Forge just came out with its new “soft gold” finish, and it’s as lovely as it sounds. The soft gold finish on this table lamp has easy-going appeal and can work well in a variety of spaces in your home or office. We have this new finish on display in both showrooms, come on in and see it in person.
Visual Comfort & Co. is another lighting brand that does amazing things with this color palette, as evidenced by the flush mount in natural brass pictured below. This finish is another one to see in person the next time you are in either showroom.
Geometric Shapes. They’re Not Just for Math Class.
We love how geometric shapes are influencing lighting designs designs that work with a wide variety of styles and aesthetics, from industrial to modern to everything in between.
This Starflex LED Pendant from Sonneman Lighting celebrates rectangles in all their glorious wonder. As the Sonneman website explains, “Starflex® is a technological high-wire acrobatics suspended in perfect balance, transforming its posture at a feather’s touch.” This adjustable pendant is on display in both Waltham and Allston.
Of course, you can’t talk geometric shapes without talking cubes. This Cubic LED wall sconce from Holtkötter has dual rotating LEDs that you can position in any direction you want.
Feeling Nostalgic? You’re in luck because Vintage Styling is IN.
The vintage look is HOT right now, thanks to things like nostalgia bulbs and classic shapes that help give off that vintage vibe so many of us love.
This Railroad Shade Wall Sconce from Innovations, which is on display in our Waltham and Allston showrooms, conjures scenes from yesteryear. Think old-fashioned train platforms.
Tech Lighting’s Alva Pendant is a glass LED pendant that features a laser-etched “filament†lit by the LED in the base of the fixture. It’s available in many configurations and cord colors and on display in our Waltham showroom.
Hudson Valley’s Pamelia Pendant is equal parts beautiful and distinctive. As the Hudson Valley website says, “Mouth-blown and flame-polished, the heavy glassware showcases the lively glow of our vintage tube bulbs.” See it for yourself in our Allston and Waltham showrooms.
