Weston home office

The Lighting Challenge:

This large, contemporary Arts & Crafts-style room needed a variety of lighting solutions to enhance its functionality as a home office.

The Wolfers Solution:

Our lighting consultant worked with the room’s overall Arts & Crafts theme to create a workspace that is stylish and highly functional. The space has high, sloped ceilings and 12-foot-high traditional bookshelves that are its key focal points. To highlight them, we added built-in cable lighting that washes down over the shelves and lights the books beautifully.

For general lighting, we used indirect fluorescent lighting, plus two floating Mission-style chandeliers in keeping with the room’s design theme. Task lighting is critical to any workspaces, so we placed lamps on the desk and in the reading cove. Finally, we added external landscape lighting to the attached deck for safety and to give the room a wonderful view by night.
